Swallow Studios in the heart of County Monaghan is workshop to me, handweaver Liz Christy and batik artist and silk painter Louise Loughman. It is a living breathing craft workshop where we create and work, dream and debate, grow and educate in our crafts. We love what we do, and we hope when you visit us you will catch a glimpse of the passion that drives us. And colour plays a big part in that passion. We techniques are very different but our textiles live happily together.
Originally I built the studios, as a workshop inwhich to weave my Monet inspired scarves, but now four years on, Swallow Studios has become a must see for visitors to this area of Ireland’s North East. And locals enjoy it too, often calling to buy that very special gift. Now well known for the Monet scarves, I continuously design and develop new collections. During “Craft Meets The Catwalk” on Nov. 20th, in Drogheda’s Craftmark at Highlanes Gallery, I will launch a striking new range. So do check back to find out how it goes…
Next week will see the start of much requested evening classes, one in handwoven tapestry on Wednesdays and one in silk painting on Thursdays for five weeks. So we will have news later about developments there! And maybe a few pics too!
