Swallow Studios is open for visitors from far and near!

I recently took part in Web 2.0 course which was organised by John Toland through Cavan Monaghan Leader. Johnny Beirne was the trainer and showed us how best to use social media to promote and market our busiesses.  Patrick from Sleeping Warrior Productions worked with us on the skills of video recording and editing, and it was this element of the course that I was particularly interested in. So I have now up loaded  ‘the film’ to youtube and am trying to promote it, the aim being to let as many people know as possible that Swallow Studios is open and welcomes visitors from far and near!

Meet The Maker at Louth Craftmark

Hi, I’d like to let you know about our ‘Meet the Maker Day’ which we are having on March 7th, at Louth Craftmark in the Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda.  The event will close the program for Enterprise Week 2009 in County Louth, and will take place from 10am to 6pm on Saturday March 7th.

Sulis Art & Craft Collective

Always conscious of the need for artisans like myself to work together and support each-other, I have joined the Art & Design Collective which is based in Sulis Holistic & Design Centre in Carrickmacross. This initiative was led and is managed by Elaine Hoey who is a multimedia artist. The aim of the collective is to create and promote the highest standard of original handmade Arts and Crafts in the region. The EU has declared 2009 as the European Union Year of Creativity and Innovation and this is what you will find at Sulis where these resourceful artists work together to promote an age of ‘thoughtful consumption’ of goods that have been ‘imagined, designed and made locally with passion. And with this in mind, a very special promotional evening is planned for Thursday Feb 12th in time for. A wonderful opportunity to get a delightful handmade gift for your sweetheart! Come along, and enjoy a glass of wine and some chocolates with the artists! St. Valentines Day

Off To Finland

In the wee small hours of tomorrow morning I will set out on a trip to Finland!
Along with a group from Louth Craftmark, I have been invited to Lapua in Finland  as part of a craft exchange program. We will demonstrate our craft techniques to Finnish makers and also to the public.  Our hosts have a very full five days planned for us so between demonstrating, visiting craft studios and museums and ‘getting to know Lapua’, I reckon we will be exhausted at the end of it.  But I know for sure it will be an exciting and enjoyable trip, and I will return inspired and enthused as always when involved in Craftmark initiatives.  Other makers going are Mia Mullen, Cathy Prendergast, Garrett Mallon, Terry O Brien, Janice Gilmore and Colette Mullholland. Also coming are Sarah Daly and Ciara Mc Feely from Ctaftmark who have done all the organising for the trip. Must go now and pack!!  Will tell you know how it goes………..and I might even have a few pics too!
